.ORG Comes In on Top as the First Quarter’s Most Valuable Domain

.ORG domain names have an innate value that no other name extension can capture. It’s a value that domain name owners can recognize and capitalize on in both development projects and resale. There have always been doubters who have questioned this value, but the domain name secondary market is currently demonstrating it.

Sedo’s Domain Market Report published on May 12, 2010 states that the .ORG extension has held the top position as the most valuable TLD with regard to both average selling price and secondary market value through the Q1 2010 period. .ORG domains experienced an increase in average sales price of $1,291 to hold at $3,376 for the three-month period. That average turns out to be about 42% higher than .com domains, and about 187% more than .net domains. Both of these extensions have experienced significant decreases in their average selling price since the last period of 2009.

Topping the charts was Poker.org, which became the highest ever .ORG aftermarket sale at a price of $1M. Forecasters have predicted that this sale would change game for the .ORG secondary market. .ORG is a fantastic domain extension for the right developments, communicating trust and reliability for building online communities.
